Join us for a four-part series by the Malton Women’s Council through the SAWEERA project. These sessions engage South Asian men and boys as allies to prevent gender-based violence
Join us for a series of empowering sessions in partnership with Caledon Public Library (CPL) and the Malton Women’s Council (MWC) under the SAWEERA project. Over four sessions this initiative aims to engage South Asian men and boys as allies in the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) and to strengthen the overall GBV sector. This partnership will enable MWC to expand the reach of vital programs, creating a greater social impact within the community.
These sessions will focus on:
1. Community Engagement: Facilitating open and informal conversations through BAATCHEET to identify specific needs and concerns within the community.
2. Social Media Campaign Messages: Creating impactful campaign messages through literary circles to prevent and address GBV.
3. Peer Support for Men: Establishing peer support networks to encourage South Asian men and boys to actively participate as allies in preventing and addressing GBV.
4. Capacity Building: Providing linguistically and culturally appropriate skill-building workshop designed to equip participants with new skills and knowledge. The goal is to strengthen the community’s overall capacity to challenge harmful gender norms, promote healthy models of masculinity, and foster supportive environments for gender equity.
